Agreed, Arthur. What an odd practice we humans have created, at least in this country (USA). When I was a young hippie (now I am an older one...) I wanted to be placed in a tree for the birds to eat after I die. But I think I prefer the composting process. It is an amazing amount of waste that goes into burying or cremating a body, and then consider the hundreds of pounds of soil you don't get as an end result. It is also mentally soothing and peaceful to think of nourishing the land after death. I know how much better pot plants grow if you throw a dead fish in your hole before planting.

Hello! I am new to Permies, and have never posted, I just read. But, I came across an article today that I felt would be worth sharing on this website, so I have pasted it below. This process of composting our deceased ones is very interesting, and is in practice in a few states already, including CA, OR, WA, and VT, CO.
I urge my fellow composters to give it a read. Some may be squeamish about this topic (my partner for example) but it is a very well written and educational article.
And, may I take this opportunity to thank all those who post regularly to this website~ I get so much out of all y'all's experiences and insight.
