Interesting....but it seems to me the question about adding borax to gardens would be the issue of it being a great killer of insects. If that applies to the microbes and other (variously legged) friends that actively occupy our compost and garden soil, would it not be extremely detrimental to gardens and compost?...or is it the amount that is critical?
I was surprised this was not a fairly clearcut kind of issue as it seems it would have been tested by now given that borax is recommended for both seemingly opposing goals.
I put some borax on an old stump to kill the ant and termite colony I found there and got in trouble with my wife because she was saving the old rotting stumps for the compost pile.
Any clarification on this would be appreciated.
