Nature doesn't drop big piles of green leaves for a reason - I've seen excessive chop and drop create EXPLOSIONS of snails and also unhealthy anaerobic rotting because the material wasn't chopped up and dried properly - green brush piles aren't healthy - much better to run back and forth over material with lawnmower first and then give it a chance to dry out a little, and also chop up canes and small branches with clippers...
