Off grid, constructing an Earthship in the high desert, have chickens and other animals that all get along.  Learning more about how to successfully grow plants and trees out here...growing aspen trees.  Knowledge and experience with wind and solar and have a Solarjack water pump that has been pumping water from a 200 foot deep well since 1998.  Plan on increasing solar capacity to around 3 to 4K watts but currently living with a lot less.

I am living in and am constructing an Earthship and even in the arid high desert if moisture wicks into the wall mudding/plaster it will cause issues with the wall coating cracking or flaking off or crumbling.   I tend to agree with others that if you can salvage or repair and upgrade what you have you can move forward with growing food and other things a lot quicker.

So much good information.  In arid regions my guess is that I should cover the compost and fungi with plastic in order to retain moisture.
