Hi Jeremy,

If there is a lot of flow and the velocity of flow is fast (>1.8m/s) then this could work fine.

You're right there is nothing about these new turbines on the Hallidays website just yet, it's all too new

Ultimately these turbines are not yet ready for market. The company in the process of raising investment, and as such is hoping to get a good understanding of just how much demand from folks there would be in both the US, EU and UK markets.
However it sounds like your friend could be a potential future customer, which is great!

Could you perhaps suggest a number in $ of what you would expect this kind of system to cost?

We have seen other types of 'Pico' sized hydro turbines that are selling at over $30k!
This new system will be a fair bit less costly than that.

Hello Permies!

I thought you would all find this exciting new product very interesting.
See the attached document at the bottom of this post.

I would love to know how many of you like this new Hydropower product and if you would invest in one?

It has a very slow nature friendly RPM with a very good power output.

Only around 26RPM producing 1kW of power.

Two people can lift it into place, or remove it again easily if required - Pretty cool!

It floats! So simply rises and falls with water levels, so is not a flood risk or blockage threat to water channels.

It has also been designed primarily to be benign and not harmful to fish/eels or other wildlife.

Hope this is useful for you Permies.
