I am a looking for land to buy. I have several ideas on what I want

Option 1: 10-50 acres with a water source. A well or a stream, maybe a river. No house or abandoned house preferred. Mostly flat, rolling is good too.

Option 2: a farm or homestead that is already built up and the owners want to retire and are looking for someone to take over. A iron clad contract will be drawn up with a lawyer stating that the previous owners have free lodging on a small house on the property as long as they live.

Option 3: A small abandoned or dead town in a rural area.

Option 4: A school building that is no longer in use in a rural area. Preferably a brick building.

All options:
- Eastern to Northern half of the United States.
- $1-5,000 an Acre.
- Not to close to a major city.
- Not to close to a major Interstate.

Disclaimer: I am not a developer and I have no intention of subdividing or splitting up the land in any way.

I love these. I can't wait to be able to put one up. I want to make mine like a chicken coop with a small solar fridge and a place to get out of the sun.

Something to barter can be useful for a more long term bug out, like cigarettes and alcohol. I also have a roll of fishing line and and hooks. I practice hiking with my bag whenever I find a new item to make sure it's manageable long term. A change of socks can be a lifesaver as well. Both for emergency water filtration and believe me you don't want to keep you feet in nasty sock to long. It can get very bad very quick.

Hi everybody. My name is G, I'm 25 and I currently live in Austin TX. Austin is great but my heart longs for back home in East Tennessee. I try my best to keep my farm skill up here but it isn't easy.  I have a little garden in my backyard and am currently starting Fall veggies and I'm hoping to add some chickens soon.. My hubby and I are looking or property anywhere between Chattanooga TN, Fort Wayne IN, Memphis TN, and Asheville, NC. Pretty specific I know but it's what works for family obligations. Even if its just a acre or two something to call our own would be amazing. Established farm is a plus but raw land is great too. Natural water source preferred. We would be looking to do owner finance but if we find the right place we are open to anything. I would also like to add we are not opposed to letting elderly former owners stay if they aren't ready to leave or if they had nowhere else to go. We would draw up a legally binding contract protecting both parties form being taken advantage of. This is a ongoing search of 2 plus years as a couple but I myself have been planning my own homestead for much longer. I was raised on a farm and worked it as well. I sold eggs, I planted gardens, chased off varmints in the middle of the night, ran a mile to get the goats out of the neighbors' flowers (pesky goats, but good milk), sat up with a birthing goat and assisted. My eventual goal is 75-80% self sufficiency (as part of a like minded community). What we would do with the land. Grow most of our own food, most of which I would like to be self sustaining. Make our own clothes. Brew our own beer. Raise animals. Establish trade with neighbors. I don't intend to use any chemicals on the land or cut any trees unless it's a absolutely necessary. Speaking of community I would very much love to build  loose community that can rely on one another in times of crises or stress. To share the work with. The bad with the good. My hubby is the sustainability guy and he will do his best to keep us on that path. We can be reached here or at borghomestead@gmail.com
