Congratulations.  Your sow is beautiful.  It is so exciting having piglets.  There is just nothing cuter than baby piglets.

I know Brenda Eldridge well.  I was one of the original founders of AKKPS and now have founded another KuneKune Registry called IKKPS.  Brenda has some of my pigs that I bred.  Small world!

How many of you raise KuneKune pigs for homesteading purposes?

I raised this breed for 10 years and I found them to be the perfect pigs.  Their docile, friendly temperaments and ease of handling make them idea for first time pig owners.

Breed and sell the best and eat the rest.  Not all KuneKunes are meant to be breeding stock, so it is great to utilize them for producing pork.  With KuneKunes being a grazing animal, they are very cost effective to raise.  Their KuneKune meat is a rich, red marbled meat that is locked in a layer of fat that locks in the flavor.

Have you ever tried KuneKune meat?  What were your thoughts on it?  I loved smoked meat too of course.
