This has been a slow going project. Started out making the small purple A-frame as a coop when we first got the chicks. Wanted a way to get it higher off the ground than it was. We knew we were going to be making a bigger chicken coop in the back anyway, which is what the A-frame is resting on now. So we temporarily attached the small chicken coop to the run.

The pallets are held in place by short sections of rebar drilled through the bottom and pounded into the ground. We got these for a very small price at a recycling/ scrap yard. We had to buy a post to make the screen door and secure that side of things. We probably could have made it out of something on hand but we thought we should splurge for that. The branches going up to the roof are from trees that we trimmed on our property. The run is situated next to a shed and part of an existing fence. So we did not have to spend as much money to complete it.

There are definitely still some gaps that need filled in, but I was so excited to get this completed that I wanted to share.
I cannot lie, outside of spending a lot of time in parks camping, I am a city girl. My fiance has family in Kentucky so we moved here and picked up a few acres in the foothills, or "knobs"area. I absolutely love our home even though it is super small. And I am working on trying to thin down some of the forest area to get a food forest going.

I am going to try to use pigs and goats to work the land, and provide food and milk and perhaps a profit for us as well. This seems like an excellent place to find information.
