Yes, I am aware of Masonry heaters. But they typically use 50% of the wood that traditional wood burners use, whereas RMHs use as little as 20% of the wood. RMHs are even more environmentally friendly, if the claims are true.

Hi everyone, I recently saw a video on Youtube by Robert Murray Smith explaining the 2022 EU (and UK) change to manufacturing and installing heating systems in homes. The video is his episode 1745 Rocket Stoves and the Law.(Here's a link:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v7RicMVWqQo)

Basically, since 2022 it is illegal to install an unregistered and unlicensed heating system in your own home. RMHs need to be installed by licensed and regulated RMH builders who have passed EU/UK standards. I have found on the Permies site lists of registered and licensed RMH builders in continental Europe and the US, but I can't find anyone in Ireland (or even the UK) yet.

Personally, I think an RMH building business would be a gold mine for any experienced people (alas, I'm not one of them). Does anyone know of anyone in Ireland who is planning to start an RMH company, or who might be interested in doing so?

Yours in hope and eager expectation,

Matthew.
