Hello! I did a bit of research and learned that vegetable oil is much heavier than kerosene so does not go up the wick if placed vertically, however if we use something that lets the wick lay sideways, like the ancient clay olive or sesame oil lamps the wicks work fine. I repurposed this tea pot and some old cotton cord to make mine.
