Allen, thanks for writing. I appreciate you reaching out. Why don't you send me a PM and tell me more about yourself and what you're looking for in a woman.  I understand you want pictures of me, but I'm a little unsure why you want pictures of my house?

Jack,

Well, I am glad you got a laugh out of it! I did day 45-55 "or so". That is the ideal maybe.....but I am open to a little stretch from there.

I'm curious why you stopped dating?

Still looking! I am enjoying the fall although we are having surprisingly warm weather here in WI, 80 during the day and 50 at night. Summer is holding on tight!

I am canning tomatoes into sauce, just picked 3 bushels of apples with friends and getting ready to make applesauce (and store some in our cellar). We have onions to braid and are still picking melons. We're waiting to harvest winter squash until a frost is forecasted.  We have 6 pigs and MANY young chickens currently roaming around our house.

I'm homeschooling my son, training to be a midwife (community birth, not hospital) and doing as much homesteading as I can fit in. And enjoying some beautiful bike rides in the mornings. The changing colors are beautiful.

I know there must be a man out there looking for a woman to share projects and laughter and love. Send me a note!

Wishing everyone a lovely fall.

Riona, yes, there is nothing like letters! I grew up in the 80s and and it seems like having a penpal that you didn't know was a normal thing. My class in school had a group of penpals from a school in another part of the state that we wrote to all year and then we took a day trip to meet them at the end of the school year. I still remember it well. But I also wrote letters to friends I met at summer camp, and wrote letters back and forth with friends even into college years. At that point email started wtihin the colleges and that was the beginning of the fast decline of letters.

I still have a box of letters, and I love how each person's handwriting is so different and their hands held the letter before you got it, and the anticipation of waiting for a letter in the mail. I had a couple friends who always like to put things in letters like confetti or a leaf.

Letter writing has a beautiful long history. Email is really almost not even in the same category, I think!

Thank you very much for responding, William. For now I would like to stick with 5 years older or younger, although I could possibly go up to 10 years either way for the right person. That age range is just what I feel the most comfortable with, for various reasons.

It sounds like you have great skills and are a kind caring person. I wish you well in finding the right woman!

I have 44 acres in SW Wisconsin, where the glaciers did not get to so the terrain is hilly, with woods and valleys and ridges and many creeks, rivers, and springs. It is beautiful. I am 2+ hours from any large city. I live with my two youngest children, who are 10 and 16. I have two more not long out of the home.

I have a small off-grid house, a large garden, pigs we raise in the summer, fruit trees we planted, chickens for meat and layers, and a few ducks. I would like to get sheep, as I have enough pasture for grazing animals. I would like to build a large wood shed, and would like a root cellar too, among other ideas. And I am open to someone else's ideas.

I am passionate, kind, loving, and willing to work on myself. I am a good mother who sometimes makes mistakes. I prefer small groups of people over large. I love going to the river near our home for swimming or canoeing. I love thunderstorms and rain and tea on cold mornings.

I would like to find a man who 45-55 or so and is also kind and loving, and who is emotionally available and wants to keep growing. A man who believes in the importance of love and community in his life and in the world. I am definitely monogamous and want someone who feels the same. I am looking for deep intimacy, friendship and support with a lifetime partner, and would like to be married (I am divorced with a decent relationship with my ex). We should both be each other's rock.

My children are very important to me and any man in my life must be happy to have my children in the picture, and must want to make an effort to develop a relationship with them. If you have children I will do the same. This is a deal-breaker for me.

I am a teacher and training to be a midwife, and although my life is full I am working actively on slowing life down.

I don't like modern technology and social media and limit it in my life as much as possible. I do not have a smartphone, but I do have a laptop. When I say I live off-grid, this means I have electricity in my barn that we use to power a couple small batteries we use for one house light, my laptop and my daughter's school chromebook, and the landline phone (which unfortunately in these days needs power). Everything else we figure out. I like living this way (pretty rustic for most people) - I find it inspiring and more real - and would like someone who feels the same.

Life is a process and it is important to be gentle with ourselves, others around us, and with our daily lives. I am not perfect, I don't expect you to be perfect, and want you to understand that too.

I have chosen not to include a picture because I don't want it out there on the web. I am fine about sending you one personally. I am 5' 4", average weight. Long brown hair (now with some gray too).

If you're interested, respond and tell me about yourself. I am not in a rush.

I loved letter writing and getting letters when I was a kid, when having a pen pal was a normal thing. I would love for my son to get to enjoy writing and receiving real letters. Hoping to find another child (or two) he can write back and forth with, girl or boy, around his age.

We live in Wisconsin on 40 acres. He's a super reader but not as much a writer, so this is also to encourage more writing. He supports this idea.

Hope to hear from you!
