Hello, I am starting my Flax linen journey finally. I am planning on buying a big bag of seed to sow once the snow melts it is currently January 20th 2024. I have 2 plots of 20x40ft I will be planting food grade flax to see if I really can get some fibers out of it to see if I really do need the all special certain type of flax seed to receive linen flax or not. I will be putting up nets up over the crops for maximum yield as well as close seed sowing. Finally I would like to mention I am in north eastern Ohio and the soil quality is very much of just clay so hope it doesn’t need much dirt in that regard, there will be manure filled in however haven’t decided what type of manure yet. I will be updating this log as I go and pray for some positive results.
