why not just compost leaves ? and also mix them with grass clippings too if you want to ?
my neighbors have been complsting fall, leaves for over 50 years and thier gardens are excellwnt beyond !
im doing the same..onlymproblem with leaves is you need a lot of them to,pile up.
we bet them on the road side in bags people, put out. pile them up about 6’ tall and make piles near the garden…takes about 3 years in the sun to turn to rick black material…no turning, just leave it there. in the sun. you can also use these leaves at 1 or 2 years too, its just not as fluffy, but works just fine. myself i mix with some grass clippings but it is a bit of a pain in the rear doing that. just start some piles, and at 3 years tou have an endless supply of perfect, rich black compost..its the way God composts in the woods and wilds anyways..fallen leaves..think about it. no body out there doing anything, just a layer of dead leaves year after year ! and everything grows perfectly without mankind or any imputs !
so just use dead leaves and any dead grasses or plants you wish to, but leaves are tops..when our plants get about 3-4” tall we just add the composted leaves around them and out into the aisles. then in fall we cover the whole garden with leaves about 2-4” thick and come. spring its about eaten up again. worms absolutely love leaves..nothing better for attracting worms.
