Hi HH,
I just joined this forum and found your thread when searching for posts on ecovillages.

We have a home for sale right now in a lovely ecovillage in Iowa. It might not be exactly what you are looking for based on a couple of your comments, but here's some info if interested: https://permies.com/t/262571/Ecovillage-home-sale-Fairfield-Iowa#2580250

Also, we are selling to move closer to family in southern Arizona (rural land outside of Tucson). There are 5 other 10 acre plots for sale surrounding us. It's all owned by a local resident of the area who has decided to just start selling things off as he is getting older. There were 2 plots around us that have been sold and purchased by people interested in self-sufficiency and sustainability. It would be great to have more like-minded people around us.

Your vision and goals definitely resonate. I would love to create an intentional neighborhood where we're headed in Arizona. I understand the desert isn't for everyone.. but I'd be happy to share more information about the area if you have any interest.

Either way, hope you find exactly what you're looking for

Blessings,
Angela

Hi everyone,
I just learned about this group from the Live Free Academy. This is such an amazing resource and community!

Anyhow, my husband and I currently own a home in an ecovillage in Fairfield Iowa. We absolutely love our home and community but have a unique opportunity to build a new house near family in Arizona so we've decided to sell our place and return to Arizona.

Here is the listing if anyone is interested: https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/2151-185th-St-8-Fairfield-IA-52556/2075589631_zpid/

The Fairfield community itself has a lot of active interest in sustainability/self-sufficiency. There is a huge population of meditators here and it is somewhat of a spiritual hub combined with the Midwest farming culture. The university here (miu.edu) has a great regenerative ag program and the town is extremely family friendly for those with kids.

Our ecovillage (Abundance Ecovillage) is situated on 13 acres of community land - though everyone owns their own individual plots and homes. There are 2 large community greenhouses available for use with water catchment set up (we started projects in them previously but no one is currently making use of them now so you would be free to start whatever projects you'd like).  We also have a good sized backyard garden on our personal property.

We are completely off grid with water and are hybrid off-grid with electric. We run on solar and wind power but if we ever go over we are kicked to the grid. We also have an individual propane tank for our hot water (some other homes here use solar tubes). Our heating and cooling runs off of earth tubes. We also have secondary heat with our woodstove and secondary cooling with a mini split.

Please share if you know of anyone who might be interested! Feel free to contact our realtor or reach out directly if you have any questions.

Cheers,
Angela
