This may be a silly question, I’m a bit of a noob, but I don’t seem to understand how soil ph is accounted for in permaculture principles. All these different plants I read about seem to have super specific needs for ph- if you’re doing a sort of poly culture/high diversity/food forest setup, are you just supposed to pick things that all have the same soil preference? Or does the resilience of high diversity setups sort of overcome soil ph needs??

Would love feedback on my plans for a garden with emphasis on companion planting and diversity. Total plot is 25x12, each smaller plot is 4x5, the three circles marked with C are buried green cone/kitchen scrap bins with holes, and I’ll be filling borders as tightly as possible with sunflowers, marigold, aster, borage, yarrow, lavender, lemon balm, and chamomile

Hi total noob here- I’m working on a 25x12 foot garden plot. Was grass and weeds, in the fall I laid cardboard and a couple inches of mulch. It is not nearly as broken down as I thought it would be by now and I’m not sure my best course of action for planting in the next couple months. Tear it all up and disturb the mycelium and bugs? Dirt on top? Rake out the biggest chunks and plant in what’s left? Will just be planting fairly classic garden veggies/herbs/flowers for now, soil underneath was pure red clay
