Hello, I am currently deciding what major and minor to go for. The cost of school isn't an issue for me I luckily have scholarships. I have found a passion for permaculture after working on a homestead in Hawaii. I also got to spend some time at Synergia Ranch in New Mexico. I decided to drift from the hands-on route to pursue an education. I am an artist at heart which is why I feel the landscape architecture degree is best suited for me, and I hope to couple it with Soil Science or something adjacent. In the summer or in my spare time I also plan on taking the Permaculture design course from other colleges etc. I've read many pessimistic mindsets of landscape architects getting stuck in unsatisfying degrees, especially on Reddit. I am wondering if any of you fine people have any insight or recommendations. I am confident in my ability to stay motivated and reach my goal of being a Landscape Architect who is a Permaculturist at heart. I hope to merge the two ideologies and design regenerative ecologically robust landscapes. I will not accept a miserable career and I know that I will find the niche that is meant for me. I am excited to create a beautiful bright future. Thank you for this wonderful site!
