My great pyrenees will eat just about anything but citrus, onions(garlic, leek family) , coffee or the fresh raw meat of their beloved friend( but once its cooked its not their friend anymore).                                                    I find rather odd that it is said a pyrenees only lives 10-12 years old.  I have had five and four lived no less than 17 years with my current dog at 12 years now. He is as young as always showing a total lack of aging.  All my great pyrenees had perfect cavity free teeth , ears naturally clean, eyes free of any disease and nails never needed clipping. All were raised outside on a farm and also inside our farmhouse . All have made by themselves the same once a day meal time around 5pm . I fill a 5 gallon bucket full of dry dog food and when its gone i refill it . Scraps go in a separate bucket as to not spoil or mold the dry dog food. A great pyrenees will eat when its hungrey and will simply ignore the dry food ( or guard it when another dog is present even pretending to nibble on it ). The anticipation of man made feeding time and an empty food bowl creates extreme anxiety and unhappiness for this ancient dog breed .                                                          Some foods are deadly and toxic to these dogs . So keep and all your deadly chocolate high up like on top of your refrigerator or it will be entirely devoured in less 30 seconds.  These dogs need a high protein and high fat diet with grains, vegetables and fruit. Make sure you read up on toxic deadly foods to great pyrenees .                                                                      My Pyrenees have never been stricken with salmonella from eggs🤨or salmon poisoning from raw fish  but my dogs also snack occasionally on cow poop and favor chicken poop as a delicacy. Also feast on rotten dead animal carcuses laden with maggots that stench the air for a mile away. Great Pyrenees will collect all yr poultry eggs for you and leave the empty shells scattered around in their private bone / toy graveyard hidden from your view . So if your chickens mysteriously stop laying know your egg sucker Pyrenees is enjoying the caviar at your expense.  I do keep my dogs wormed . I do not have fleas on the farm. Ticks are common so a vet prescribed doggie biscuit infused with tick medicine once a year keeps the ticks away .  Why do my pyrenees live so long of 17  years or longer ?  Maybe its because i dont give them city water or cheap no brand dry dog food. Maybe its because i let them eat when they want to and never have an empty food bowl.  Maybe its  just something so simple as they know we need them to protect everything from those salmonella chicken eggs 😂🤣
