Location: Discovery Bay Wa. Beautiful piece of land; roughly nine acres of pasture, 20 of forest. But within twenty minutes of Port Townsend, a Costco, Home Depot, etc. and not far from Seattle as the bird flys if you need anything a real city has to offer (airport etc. )
There is a house, a shop, power, water, septic, heavy machinery, tractor, tools and me.
There is a second house in the design stage that I will build, at which time the first house will become potentially available. For now, I'm offering a variety of locations for someone to bring or build their own shelter. From a spot with septic, power and water to spots with none of that.
My mind is open to the right peeps. Everybody is a package. There are so many endeavors going on in which a person could help, be helpful, I'm more focused on finding those rare birds I want around, then on what skills they might bring.
That said, here's a few potential "positions"
1. WINTER WATCHER: I'm looking for someone who might want to put down some roots. Someone looking for stability. I'm not trying to run a bunch folks thru my world. Looking for someone who might wanna stick around much of November thru March, so that I might spend more of that period gone. That stable winter resident, need not do much at all to earn their keep thru the grey days.
2. DAIRY GOAT MANAGER: I've wanted to get serious about producing goat milk and maybe cheese for some time now. Have the goats. Have the space, the experience/knowledge, the ability to build, and money to do it all yesterday. Looking for the right person to incentivize with a percentage of the profit, on top of whatever else ( it does go for as much as 16 bucks a gallon at the local high dollar hippy store ). Cheese is also a big money maker around here.
3. Dog handler/trainer: We do raise guardian dogs; livestock and family, so anyone with a soft spot for working with dogs and puppies, might find they've died and gone to heaven.
4. Fruit/Nut trees and other survival minded food production: Not about money on this topic, growing to eat, growing to feed us should shit go south. Green thumbs, and folks passionate about growing food.... are welcome. I never find the time.
Potential profiles:
One person could conceivably fill all those roles in theory, but I'm open to having a few around.
I can't help but think of the winter watcher as an older person, but dependable is what matters, not age.
I also can't help thinking of a couple, or even a small family, as more inclined to bring and want stability
But again, I'm keeping my mind open.
For those who might be interested in the lifestyle as a means to educate themselves. One really could learn a lot here, from me. I basically do everything myself, from roads to structures and every aspect there of.
Lastly: The Right Woman, might well find herself eligible to become queen bee. I've had more then my share of love and good women. But I've never really had one that wanted the same lifestyle as me, found "God" in nature like me. I'd like to have some more kids, so it would have to be the real deal for me cross the those lines, but that position.... let's call it last love/wife ( I might have one more in me.... but prolly not two ) might be open for auditions also.
