I used all the apples, I just peeled all 50+ pounds of them from that tree. I wanted clear jelly and used the pulp for fruit leather. I didn't want the icky skin boiling in the jelly I was going to eat and gift to people. Thanks for the replies, I was just checking if there was something I was doing wrong with the tree. It is long overdue for a pruning which all my fruit trees are getting this winter.

What is wrong with my apples or apple tree

Can I just cut the top out of these to correct the Dr Seuss look? I'm going to let them be for now and get settled before I do anything. But I would like them to straighten out

Got 4 clearance Japanese Elm today from our local garden center. $10 each, I've spent $40 on worse things. I've been wanting to plant a windbreak on our north side, we get heavy winds from the north on our property. I figure why not try some $10 Japanese Elm?? They grew a weird curl like top, but I'm going to throw some t-posts in the ground, tie them off, hope they straighten out and root over the next couple years. I had no information on them size, disease susceptibility or soil preference. Just blowing with the wind, literally. Wish me luck.

I've been ripping it out constantly. What is it good for?

I got black dirt this year sourced "Organically" from a local guy scraping soil off an old farm supposedly. We'll it's loaded with clay and now I have this weed I've never had on our property before this year. I mean it is everywhere now. Any ideas on what is invading my garden?

I received a Mexican lime tree for a really early father's day gift. I have been very interested in container growing citrus, we're in 4b northern MN and it will need to come inside in middle september.
Would I be correct in the 5-1-1 mixture being the best option for its home for the next 2 years? I plan on mixing in some citrus tone in as well to get it off to a good start.

I have 3 plum trees. 2 Mount Royal and 1 Toka fkr pollination. The Mount Royal Pplums are delicious and survive at our house, which our neighbor down the road calls the tundra. We live across from two big alfalfa fields, so the wind and cold is substantial in the winter (we saw -40 f ladt winter). I plan on 2 more Mount Royals, but I've currently been obsessively planting Haskaps for 2 years now lol

My purple leaked tomato seedlings appear to be stunted, they have not sprouted another leaf or grown at all in the last almost 3 weeks. I transplanted some out into the garden with happy frog all Purpose fertilizer and a sprinkle of eggshells from our chickens and watered them in. So far 8 have died overnight. Thankfully I did 3 successions of tomatoes and have some really little ones coming up in trays. Im way behind though with our short northern minnesota growing season. The three that had the spots I bought from our local greenhouse so I at least have something going. I will post pics of the purple ones tomorrow, im at work for the night right now.
