We have a small historic timber farm in Yanceyville, North Carolina (Caswell County, northern Piedmont) and we are looking for the right couple to live on the property in a recently renovated three-bedroom, one-bath cottage.
The cottage is move-in ready with heating and cooling. We have just put close to thirty thousand dollars into bringing it up to a nice standard. It is a genuinely comfortable, quiet place to live.
What we are asking in return is light. Check the buildings after a storm. Water outdoor plants in the warmer months. Pick up after the wind. Keep a general eye on things when we are not on the property. A few hours a week at most. No farming background required -- just good eyes, good judgment, and someone who treats a place as if it were their own.
We are also providing a $250 monthly stipend. Caretaker pays utilities. The cottage would rent on the open market for around $650-700 a month, so the combined value is real.
Our ideal couple is working or recently retired, probably in their fifties or sixties, no children at home. You could have a full time job elsewhere -- that is fine and expected. What matters is reliability and genuine care for a property.
