I would strongly recommend giving it a try. I agree with Annie I see critters constantly that a mower would have got especially since I don't cut the pasture very short. I use a scythe to manage acres of land and I think its great. Don't worry about the perfect technique you can watch 10 minutes of youtube and you will be close enough. Then just go for it and over time it becomes much easier. Once you get decent at it you will be surprised how much area you can cover. If you use a riding lawn mower it ruins the grass for animal feed, plus it is really hard on the grass and does horrible stuff to the ecology of your land. If you keep your grass taller and don’t scythe to much you will be shocked at how much life and your pasture can thrive vs a mowed field. Since you mentioned you have a large area you can cancel the gym membership and be out in nature at the same time win win.

That video of the raccoons eating hotdogs made my day! Good luck finding your human!
Thank you so much for your service!

I wanted to drop a quick reply here just to help bump your post back up to the top of the list so more people see it.

Hang in there, keep trusting the process, and I'm wishing you the absolute best of luck finding your person!
That is such a profoundly moving metaphor. It's so true that when we carry deep wounds, our first instinct is often to prune, fix, or cut away at ourselves to 'fix' the pain, as if suffering requires more suffering. But nature reminds us that true healing happens when we simply allow life back in. Nature and the changing seasons are such gentle, powerful healers giving us permission to just let spring return at our own pace, scars and all. Wishing you so much warmth on your healing journey.
I saw this and just had to drop a little encouragement. I have read some of your posts, I can tell you have such a big heart and a great head on your shoulders. Honestly, you're a total catch especially for this kind of lifestyle, where having a capable, down-to-earth tomboy by your side is such a massive asset. Trust the process and keep being your awesome self; the right connection is going to find you.
I like your post it reminds of a quote "Tomorrow is not promised, and the past cannot be changed therefore, live each day to the fullest and know that every new day is a blessing" - Nishan Panwar
Hey, just sent you a purple moosage!
