About jiovi and Foxgreen Farms

Our Vision
Conversion of agriculture and human habitats to organic, sustainable, resilient methods, improved health for the earth and its inhabitants, and greater awareness of and demand for organic products.

Our Mission
Our mission is to convene credible, evidence-based science on the environmental and health benefits of organic food and sustainable, resilient human habitats, farming and communicate them to the public.

Our Goals

·  Research: Serve the public good by offering a comprehensive and relevant set of credible, peer-reviewed scientific studies that support the benefits of organic food and resilient, sustainable farming, and human habitats to human, animal and environmental health.

·  Education & Information: Help consumers and organizations access and understand science that sheds light on the organic, sustainable and resilient benefits, and serve as a free, trusted, world-wide clearinghouse for this information

·  Organic Production: Contribute to a measurable increase in organic production and consumption.

·  Sustainable and Resilient: We identify, design, and develop human habitats - landscape and infrastructure systems - that yield perennial abundance and enduring value. These are adaptive, resilient and secure places in a future of peak oil and climate instability

·  Media and Public Policy Resource: Communicate verifiable findings to policy makers and focus the attention of mainstream media on the “organic, sustainable, and resilient difference.”

·  Partnerships: Establish mutually beneficial strategic partnerships to advance our mission.

·  Vibrant Organization: Achieve revenue objectives through new and creative funding strategies.

To the best of our knowledge we only sell Non-GMO products
We are located in Maine, spanning Seboeis Plantation and  the town of Howland.

No not spam- LOL.  There was a typo though, it was a 60% off sale not 50%.  We are done now for shipping this year.  On farm sales either on a field digging or potted basis is possible over the summer and into the fall.  You or others can email me through the site over the next few weeks and request anything.  If it can still be shipped (not broken bud too much) I will make deal with that person if I can.  We need our cooler for spring and summer vegetables so the dormant stock needs to move to the field or be sold.  --Tom

I was looking at the stocks. I have ordered from you in the past. The seeds come with excellent instructions!

The antonovka apples appear to be $4.00 a seed. Is that a typo? I don't see any quantity noted. That would ordinarily be slightly below what I pay for rootstock! Might be worth clarifying on that item.

Hi, They are $4.00 per packet of 20 seeds.  It does say the seed count but I will put it in a better spot.  Thanks for the nice words and help.  It is a huge job maintaining the website.  - Tom

jiovi®at Foxgreen Farm in Maine
I'd like to put in a plug for jiovi® in Maine.  www.jiovi.com webpage
We've been in business for 20 years.  We began by selling seabuckthorn seeds 20 years ago and have expanded greatly since then.

Spring shipping starts next month for bare root trees.  Potted plants can be purchased on the farm most of the rest of the growing season.  We're very proud of the business we have built and the thousands of plants shipped to our customers each year.   Every year we offer a special deal to Permies.com members and this year it is 26% off your entire order, no limit.  It applies to both seeds and plants.  Enter "permies26" in the discount code area at checkout or just click this link Discount link and the code will automatically be added to your cart.  Make sure to add your email to receive news and additional special event notices when you visit jiovi® or just click this link for the newsletter sign up jiovi® newsletter signup

I’ve been reading about mason bees and bumble bees.  The masons seems better and less expensive.  Anyone have experience?

Greg B Smith wrote:Do Yall have recommendations for fast growing trees that will fruit.  I am primarily looking for tree growth for shade over our deck and gazebo. Fruit would be a bonus but not necessarily a must. This area will be surrounded by a food forest so at some point the full size fruit and nut trees will take over.

I am in zone 8 and could transplant some willows and empress trees if no fruit trees will work.  Those are good for the bees and chop and drop once the big trees are established.

For your application I would suggest some nice grapes for fairly quick shade.  You could inter-plant with a nitrogen fixer of your choice and use bear berries as a ground cover.  For your zone I would suggest Somerset Seedless grapes,  male an female seaberries, buffalo berries, and the bear berries as the ground cover.  http://www.jiovi.com still has bare root, dormant plants and is shipping now.
This would work if you want to add an arbor or wires to train the vines.  Just a thought.
