So, I have a serious abundance of mosquitos in our permaculture area, its not huge, a standard suburban back yard. I know I really have a deficiency of something A friend of mine reminded me of when I was in boy scouts that we used to pick ferns and lay them around our tents and camping areas, as we were taught it repelled mosquitos.

South East Michigan, Zone 5ish

Anyone have any secrets to deal with mosquito issues? Other than repellant

Thanks!

mints all have square stems, and it must look like a mint AND smell like a mint along with the square stems.

You were totally correct It's wild viola! Thanks!

@Brenda, thank you for the detail! Awesome stuff, lots of ideas! Looking forward to adding more to this guild and starting the pear guild near it

@Jordan, That makes sense to me about the mint, I had questions personally when I mashed it up and it didn't smell of mint. It does seem similar to the photos I have found on google for wild viola

Thanks for responding!

I wanted to share a spring update for the guild I started in the summer of 2011 As is always the case, I am SO open to suggestions, ideas, tuning, better practices etc. Thank you for any advice.

How much space is your apple tree guild taking up?

Well, let's see... I would say its about 25' across so roughly a 25' diameter.

I wanted to have a little fun showing a contrast of then and now. How things looked shortly after planting and initial setup for an apple tree guild in our backyard that is working towards a food forest. I hope you enjoy rofl.
