I have a
honey crisp
apple tree that was planted as bare
root last spring. I has been doing very well. It even had 5 apples on it. Today it has been sprinkling, and there have been strong gusts of wind, it seems to have blown my little tree over. It was still firmly in the ground, but I did see a crack at ground level. I put some stakes in, and put it back to upright. I removed all the apples because I was thinking if it survives it shouldn't waist its
energy producing fruit. Now I wonder
should I trim some of the tree so the
roots have less to support? Should I put some Elmer's glue on the crack to seal it from pests? Does this tree have any hope to survive? I'm so mad at myself. I noticed the apples a few days ago, and I was thinking I should remove them because the tree is so young, but didn't do it at that time. I believe it was the weight of the apples because we have had way stronger wind storms then this, even combined with heavy rain, and the tree was fine. I am kicking myself! If there is a chance to save my tree, I would love any info you have. Thanks
