Can rabbits and chicken cohabiate?

I want to add a chicken coop to a fenced run that my rabbit currently uses. Does anyone know if I could have a shared space that chickens and a rabbit could share?

some chickens might beat up bunny pretty bad. chickens also don't have nice neat pelleted poop like bunnies and the rabbit would probably get nasty unless it was a fairly big run. it could probably be done but I don't think it is ideal. maybe quail would be a better option??

The only way I've heard of that chickens and rabbits were able to share the same space was when the rabbits were up off the ground in cages.  You'd need really good ventilation if this was indoors, as chickens stir up a lot of dust, which wouldn't be good for the rabbit to breathe.

This is outdoors and the rabbit does have its own hutch as well. After hearing what you have to say, I might not be prepared for the "mess" this could create. The rabbit is so clean and soft now!

Jody, I had the same question and then I saw some awesome videos on Youtube.  I think I was looking at chicken tractors and clicked a link which brought me to them.  Anyway, you can check out the co-habitating behaviors yourself.  I thought for sure that the chickens would be the aggressors, but it looks like the rabbits were more aggressive!  (You can also check out the size of the living space in the varous videos.)

Here is an interesting tidbit I just recently learned:  apparently rabbits have two different kinds of poop.  One kind of poop is something where they are all done with it.  Another kind is something that has been run through just once, but needs to be run through again.  Which makes the whole idea of rabbits sitting on mesh where the poop falls to out of reach not work. 

Further, I wonder if rabbit poop might make for good chicken feed.

Paul, actually, the 'poop' that the rabbits need to eat and run through a second time is produced at night, and is larger than the day-time poop, so most of it doesn't fall through the wire floor of the cage.
