Elephant's Foot Yam Suckers - Should I remove them?

Hi all,

Here's a couple of pics of my elephant's foot yam. Any tips on whether removing two of the suckers would be a good idea?

I know this is an old thread, but I think those are a grass like weed not a sucker from the main plant - I guess you will have found out one way or another now!
