I've never done it. I really have no interest. But I seem to be bumping into a lot of people that have done it recently.

And .... I wonder ....

I've never heard of anyone trying it and burning themselves.

I wonder if this is one of those things where people feet don't burn easy. I wonder if has nothing to do with the power of the mind over .... getting burned.

I wonder if somebody that is into piercings, tattoos, scarring, etc. would get all excited about getting burned, then do the same thing everybody else is doing and get to the end of the coals without a burn. (Damn!)

Whenever I've seen anyone do this (on TV) it appears (to me, anyways) that they don't stay on the coals long enough to really get that burned. I wonder how much is mind over matter and how much is just lack of foot sensitivity. I walk around barefoot a lot during the summer. I get callouses on my feet & they are not very sensitive.

On mythbusters (again) they did the whole walking on coals.  it is the speed, and the fact that the coals (when they're walk-ready) are covered in ash, which helps insulate.

i always figured that they soaked their feet or put something on them to get them unburnable for that little amount of time that they are on there..maybe a salve or something

I don't think so...  They also did this on last season's Amazing Race (I watch too much TV, I think) and they did nothing to prepare but strip off their socks.  I think you also have to be careful not to jostle the coals too much since that would possibly expose the hotter coals under the ash.

Its the speed, where they walk, type of wood, and how the coals are made.
At the basics.

But....

There is a very substantial etheric/intention/preparation
process though before.  It is this process that makes the firewalk a very
powerful experience.

If you grow the food, harvest the food, cook the food, and then eat the food in a sacred manner and in a sacred place and way, you will have an amazing, unforgetable meal.

One of our community members, Shelby Shrauner, has completed her
training and in honor of that we are having a firewalk on the 4th of July.

Its an all day preparartion with participants getting the wood, preparing, and starting with ceremony, meditation, and ritual.

Quite something.

and about 1.5 cord of wood.

I believe its $165 and profits will benefit the weel
