Howdy,
There was some re-roofing done on a house and the guys were in a rush to finish it up before a storm, so they did not lay down tarps, etc to catch all the garbage from the old roof, etc. The old roof was asphalt shingles.

Basically, there are pieces (and now dust from where its decomposing) of asphalt roof shingles which are all over the place in the soil and lawn now. It looks pretty horrible and I'm pretty sure I should be concerned about having this junk working its way into future potential planting areas.

I am interested to know if this is the problem I am assuming it to be (petroleum contamination)?

If so, are there any labs that someone can recommend for having tests done, etc. to assess the damage?

Thanks in advance for any information or perspective.

Here are some pictures...

There was creosote in the soil here from the same thing. That was before I livved here but appearently it would burn your skin if you were working in the soil. Appearently Paul Stamets himself (and his crew) came out here and used oystermushrooms to rehabilitate the soil.

Be reasonable. You can't destroy everything. Where would you sit? How would you read a tiny ad?
