The Man Who Quit Money, Mark Sundeen
I give this book 8 out of 10 acorns.

The biography of Daniel Suelo, who has rejected our modern monetary system, is gorgeous. Daniel’s message is sincere, he speaks from a place of personal truth that can only be obtained by a person who actually lives their ideals. I really enjoyed reading Daniel’s thoughts and perspectives. Reading this book will make you question our standards of security and the value of materialism, he may be one of the only in this country who is truly free.

I wonder if this way of life would work for a family or a group of people, or several small groups living close to eachother. It seems to me that sooner or later the need for a common exchange method would arise, be it food, shells or metal. It just makes exchange of goods and services more practical. That's why we invented money in the first place.

A friend gave me the book to read, knowing I like out-of-the-rut ideas and am somewhat philosophical minded.  I enjoyed it... found it fascinating, actually.

My life has unfolded quite differently, and I've told my story in capsule form here:  https://permies.com/t/62005/don-job (I posted a few times in the thread).  I'm a homesteader who started out with a partner and child, but no access to land and no tools to work with (etc, etc).  Still, I admire Suelo for a number of reasons.

She laughed at how small it was, and now it is even smaller. Poor tiny ad:
