Gardenia Tea?

Has anyone here made tea from gardenia flowers? Ours are in bloom and smell lovely right now. I've been researching it and there are a few signs saying yes; however, they are very sparse and makes question their validity. I have seen some references to traditional Chinese medicine, which makes sense since the plants are originally from eastern Asia.

I'm not looking for any particular health benefit. I just have been looking around the property identifying plants and seeing if any unusual ones might have culinary, edible, or medicinal qualities.

Our first house had a gardenia bush.  the flowers smelled so nice.

I have never made tea though I have read that it is as simple as putting a few petals into boiling water.

I have also read that the petals can be dried for later use.

I have no idea what this tea would taste like so if you made tea let us know what it tastes like.

I'll have to do that next time they bloom. Our current blooms are just about finished up, and I think I would want to use fresh flowers if it is my first time trying it.

They do smell lovely though. I'm going to get around to taking cuttings at some point to try and grow more!

Do you by chance remember where you read that? It just surprises me how little info I can find on it, especially with how common and popular the bushes are.
