Hi everyone,
I have an opportunity to buy a very nice tiny house, fully equipped, but there is a snag. The house was not designed to be moved off of the original owner's property. However, now they want to sell it. The issue is that the lofted part of the house is 17' tall, and the max height for transport is 13.5' due to overhanging wires. So, part of the roof would need to be cut off, removed with a crane, transported separately, and then reattached. There is electrical wiring in the walls that also needs to be taken into consideration. Im not opposed to this as long as it is actually possible. The tires on the trailer would also need to be replaced before it can be moved.

I know its a long shot, but does anyone have any experience with this type of thing or any helpful advice/tips?

The cost of the house is low because of all the difficulties of moving it, so I have some money I can invest into hiring people to do what needs to be done.

Thanks in advance for any help you can give!

Some photos would be help full
Any roof can be removed bt building backwards and taking it apart.
What material is on the roof, iron sheeting?
Tyre changes are not an issue.
You may need equipment to get to the roof and start dismantling it.
Less than a day would be sufficient I believe.

In my part of the world, there are corridors for oversize loads.

Electrical distribution companies can help, including raising wires for a specific move.

I would reach out and ask the local electrical utility for advice and options.

My old place had old pier and beam house which we cheaply fixed up. A few years later we sold the house to be moved. They loaded it on an 18 wheeler. There were some over size load permits etc. I can’t exactly remember as I didn’t pay for the move But somewhere around 7-8k and they moved it around 18miles. Included was dealing with power company so they could raise the lines. This was I think 15-1600sqft so they had to completely shut down roads.

However taking roof down would also not be that difficult. And would possibly  save money over permits. But then the hassle of rebuilding.

I would call nearest mobile home place and ask who they use to move trailers or a local trucking company.  They will have people familiar with oversize loads. Never hurts to check. It might be reasonable.

Edit- the 7-8k included the truck and everything to haul and lift and resetting up foundation . So permits only would be a lot less.

My suggestion would be to get a quote from a house moving company.

That is their business and they would know all the ins and outs of what is necessary to move structures including removing roofs.

They probably have experience moving two story houses.

Even if you don't go that route their quote would tell you what you need in permits, the best way to remove the roof, etc.
