This is an opportunity to participate in building a
rocket mass heater in a home near Binghamton, New York over the weekend of October 24 - 26, 2014. Participants will gain
experience making and using
cob, assembling the core and heater mass parts, and discussing the principles of the
RMH as applied to this case and in general.
It is not a comprehensive
workshop run by professional teachers like Ernie & Erica, though I have experience building pottery kilns using similar techniques and materials. There will be one or two others with some experience in building cob ovens. In light of this I am not charging a fee for the experience; tent space and modest bathroom facilities will be available, and we can arrange meals as decided by participants. Any interested parties please contact me for more details. Total attendance will be limited to 8 to 10 so as not to get too crowded in the workspace.
I have recently built a rocket burner for a
cob oven (still in progress, but
should be finished by the 24th), and am working on a cast core, for those who desire to see these things in person before building their own.
