I searched a bit and didn't find much on the subject of Agritourism and Airbnb. With all the questions related to how to finance a homestead, I'm surprised this isn't discussed more. I know of a couple off-grid operations (one a farm, the other an intentional community) that have had their entire operations completely bankrolled from Airbnb. In the case of the farm, the owners were able to purchase the farm next to them, and expand their Airbnb operation, all due to the success of renting out a couple cabins.

Anyone else doing this? Thinking about it? For you young aspiring farmers and homesteaders, have you considered throwing up a yurt at the place and using that as a good income source? What else?

BTW - people that have been successful at this are reluctant to talk about it online due to the dubious nature of Airbnb legality in various locations, and due to the fact that the rentals themselves are often built out of code compliance, so they would rather stay under the radar. So I won't be naming any names

I'm aware of some folks planning on doing this. They're chronicling their plans (buy homestead, AirBnB city home, develop AirBnB on homestead) on their blog. This is a good place to start: http://www.frugalwoods.com/2015/01/14/frugal-homestead-series-part-2-heres-the-budget/

Cats say "meow" because they think that is what people sound like. This tiny ad told me so:
