Hi, Kristy! This is a great opportunity for both of us. I am building a food-forest at my parents 1 acre in Panama
city, FL, a few hours away from you. I have wwoofed extensively on about 10 farms(primarily
permaculture) and I have for the past few months wondered in depth about what I plan to do in the future in terms of starting my own homestead. I am not interested in purchasing property any time in the forseeable future, partly because it goes against my philosophy of "owning" the lands and because I want to avoid getting wrapped in having to pay taxes for things I vehemently disagree with. Also petty things like being subject to codes and what not.
Anyways. I would love to come to stay at your place for a bit and help you out with projects, exchange knowledge and plants, songs, friendship. I am very passionate about
sustainability and have a good work ethic when it comes to that.
Right now at my folks place we have the following - 3 cherry
trees, 4 pear trees, 1 peach, 1 pecan, 1 banana, 3
apple, 3 orange , 1 persimmon, a few blueberry bushes, a couple of fig trees (about to have many more figs and elderberries). Chaya, or Mexican tree spinach, pigeon
pea, lemongrass, sugarcane, garlic, oregano, basil, rosemary,
rose, peanut butter tree, asparagus, comfrey, etc.
Looking to increase biodiversity for wildlife habitat and eventually year round food production. I also know a great permaculturist just north of Gainesville, near Brooker, named Mycol. I plan to come over that way and work trade some in early 2017. Definitely we
should link up. The revolution relies on our connections, like the ecological garden, we all co-depend on each other.
Get back to me when ya can. Thanks, Kristy!
