At home I’ve got a compost pile but I don’t know the percentage of NPK in the soil. How would you figure out the percentage of NPK in your compost pile. I am familiar with the test strips and the NPF soil testing kit but these don’t give you a percentage. I would love to hear your thought
Check with your local university, alot of schools offer full soil sample tests. You'll have to collect a sample and send it into them for a small fee they will give you a full breakdown of the NPK %.
I believe the best way to get an analysis on your compost is to send it to a lab that does specialized compost testing. It's my understanding that a "soil" test for compost and a soil test are two different things. Compost is essentially 100% organic matter and does not contain the kind of mineral content that soil contains. Here's a link to Penn State's site and they do compost testing: http://agsci.psu.edu/aasl/compost-testing
