well if you go to the hardware (HD) store to buy screws
as often as i do you have noticed how much they
have INCREASED in cost. So i am always looking for
ways to cut those costs.
I needed a way to hold down my
green house fiberglass roofing that was BETTER than those
ring shank nails with the rubber washer which i think SUCK.
So i took a piece of tire inner tube and cut it into 1 1/4 strips
that i then cut into squares. next i recycled my beer bottle caps
by punching a hole thru the middle of them with a thin nail set.
This allowed me to use a regular 2 inch sheet rock screw to go
thru the bottle cap and the rubber inner tube square and lock
that fiberglass section of roofing down to withstand 40 mph wind storms that SHREDDED the expensive store bought fastener busting the top clean off.
