My partner Mark and me (David) have bought 13 hectares of wetland and regenerating bush* with a large
cob house on it just under 20 minutes from Whanganui. We're looking for people who might be interested in parking a housebus/housetruck/tiny house on it. I'm also open to a flatmate in the house for perhaps six months as I'll otherwise be there on my own until Mark sells his place. The house is very large so it'd be easy to have space to oneself.
Most of the
land is under open space (QEII) covenant and there are rare birds. It's very quiet and has no immediate neighbours. I've asterisked the regenerating bush words because there is also lots of willows - to be got rid of so we can restore the wetland to how it
should be.
Whanganui is a really interesting community with a huge number of artists and a strong environmental movement. There's a fantastic market every Saturday morning that is a real community meeting place, and a great bohemian cafe (actually there's two rather bohemian cafes) with a big communal table with retro stuff and
art all around it to get to know people over
coffee at. There is also a strong cultural scene.
Re the land, my aim (I'm the gardener - Mark is more into animals) is to put a
permaculture garden around the house and restore the rest of the land to be pristine bush and wetland. I could definitely imagine someone with their own accommodation having a garden too.
