why i want to bull doze
Well, ... i had started with 3 sets of gloves and some tools and lots of determination. (im a overweight 58 year old woman with 1 acre of jagged rock laced with deep open cracks that seem to go forever.) when i was dropped off on my land the very first day, i stood there wondering what i could possible do for 8 hours that would begin the zen garden landscape i envisioned. i walked the land but realized if i fell through the surface on that much land, no one would find me and i could cut myself up really bad on shard like rocks. so i began a driveway and a rock wall. little by little i managed a semblance of a driveway and a crude but noticeable rock wall. at the end of the day, i had warn through my gloves and had bloody fingers (i didn't want to stop) my ride was impressed with the work i'd done in just 8 hours and pointed out that my driveway was too narrow for a vehicle.
on my next day i re-did the drive way, added layers of duck tap to my gloves and .... now after 6 months i have a bit more drive way and parking area and a bit more rock wall. the property is 356 feet long by 124 feet wide and id like to have my zazen hearlers coop completed by 2/14/2014. soo....... i have talked with a dozer dude and explained the zen garden look i want and that i dont want trees dug up. i just want the rough lava smushed down so i can safely walk on it, and i'd like to fill in a couple of deep holes. (i now feel 24 years old and i weigh 40+ pounds less)
i have been inviting friends and family to come help with the land. i do believe several people with heavy tampers walking the land would make a big difference in making the lava a little more safe to walk on. but i only have me so far.
thanks for caring
ps
i am buying new gloves soon and more duct tap.

saving the planet..........
this may be a bit more than i can handle but hay, we gotta have a dream right.

so, i am digging the stuff i get from permies.

i am really genuin about inviting helpers to come stay and help me build my earth dome community in hawaii. i can offer shelter and some food stuff depending on desire. not looking to rehabilitate anyone.

i have the land, and the name (i think) Zazen Healers Coop. my motto is "All Is Well... Healing from the ground up". names change around but the idea has remand the same. to create an environmentally healthy living center for people to come and stay that is 1) beautiful, 2) sanitary, 3) easy to maintain and live with at any age and most hanicaps, 4) $0 to build, 5) brings in some money for the ones who do work / live there.
the place will be dozed this month Nov 2012. and i am ordering supplies soon. the dream has been building for 26 years and the time is right to put my heart and soul into making it a reality.

i get a real kick out of all the topics i see covered on all the permies sites. i was raised on a farm and have experience living simply.
nice to learn people are making the simple life easier.

love to all and thank you

ok ... i love huckleberry pie. some how i don't think i will get one for this tho...
i love the info i get from your site and the interviews and the videos etc.
This newest composting toilet design is awe inspiring! the one with the slopped triple chamber in the tree trunk. Can i get the specs on it? I am so over packing buckets of shit around and finding buckets to fit old seats that were made for bucket sizes that cant be found anymore.

i'm looking for helpers willing to help me build a small community of earth bag domes in hawaii. yep hawaii.
i have 1 acre of land. and i want to do the works and fit it all on that one little acre. swimming pond, gray water, water harvesting, bees, tilapia, chickens, composting toilets, solar, gardens, yadda yadda yadda... i like the cave / hobbit feel of the earth domes.

i live in a cabin near my i acre land, off the grid with modest solar electric & composting toilet, in a two story luxury camp like life style. we build little 8x12 bedrooms off in the woods in a few days when people come to stay sometimes.

you can come for a visit.
and bring a pie.

Mike and i can pick you up at the airport, you can stay with us and we'll show you around the island. One island sustainable living center is on this island and they are doing some great things here.

Ya! check out One Island Sustainable on line - http://archive.constantcontact.com/fs090/1107937355248/archive/1111119278889.html
and maybe you can make it for one of the events.
see ya soon.
