We are a group of 5 looking to leave England and build a life in rural Portugal. Be great to get some help from people doing this currently if anyone can help?

Thanks

Rob

Oh my word seems that the area iv set my hart on will soon be totally over populated:(

there is plenty of land and space. Yes a lot of people are moving there, but it's not overpopulated. The Castelo Branco Area has a lot of space. For me it's a bit too dry in many places. And a bit remote. It's a little more for the off grid homesteaders, and people seeking solitude. I like the people out there
A little further north and into the mountains is still good gardening, a lot more water coming from the ground, and closer to services in coimbra

Jessea Paige wrote:Hello, my name is Paige.  I've been looking for some land in Norway for quite some time, preferably near running water (a small river) for a place to settle down in nature and build a tiny earthen home.  However due to health concerns, we need to be near a hospital, or atleast an hour away.  I've been having a tough time finding any land on its own for sale with these requirements,  could you help us? Thank you so much for your time! Have a beautiful day!

I have similar issues. I think your best bet to find good formable land and places for small farms Is within 30 minutes of coimbra. Your best hospitals are going to be in lisbon, porto, and coimbra, I believe
Fundao, Pedrago Grande, There are a lot of options.
I'm curious what you have found so far

It’s just me and my 27-year-old son who is partially disabled from an accident, prosthetic leg and paralyzed arm. I also like to do sculpture, big stuff usually and would sometimes metal or stone.
Interested in hearing ideas and learning about the possibilities a homesteading in Europe.

four years later!
I am still trying to get to portugal. I have now sold almost everything I own and ready to get there.
My son is now 31 and wants to come with me
My goal is to restore and build houses for the middle class With gardens and also communities.
I found another guy doing the same thing there. I will be using my own money as well as Investors
I'm single and looking for a life partner as well. I grew up on a farm and ranch in Kansas, four years of woodshop and a degree in wood technologies, built two houses in high school and worked in construction and furniture making in the 80s. I now mostly do sculptures For my creative Out, and flip houses. I sold my Homestead May 2022 years ago and miss it.
I would love to connect with Others interested in the same things.

I've been going to Portugal three years, stayed in 45 locations over six months. I've seen a lot of the country. It seems like most of the Permaculture type people are in the region of Castelo Branco.
I've also found a fair number around Castaneirha de pera.
Some people are going Off grid. Also further north in the region of Fundao
You can look up a guy on YouTube called farmer for fun
He's always showing farms for sale
If you're interested, let's talk. I'm hoping to go over there shortly and start remodeling and flipping houses in the central region south of coimbra.
Unless somebody convinces me to go somewhere else
Single guy that could Benefit from a life partner

What a beautiful place and great location! I traveled all over the country last July. If you talk to the gardeners down in the algarve, they shake their heads and tell you how dry it is, and poor the soil. I’m looking at moving to the center of the country myself. Seems to be the best climate and location to me. I hope I can find some place like yours!
I’m hoping to get back over there and see the big waves before the season is over.

I’m looking at moving to Portugal. I spent a month there, exploring the country. I like the central part, the most I believe. Good climate and good growing conditions.
There’s a guy with a good YouTube channel called farmer for fun, a British guy, and he shows farms that are for sale around him, around Fundao

I’m moving forward on moving to Portugal. I have found some interesting property in Central portugal that I am working toward acquiring. It’s about 10 acres with the Vineyard and olive trees and a large house with multiple buildings. Would make a great place for vineyards and Permaculture and a hotel venue.
I’m interested in hearing from anyone that might be looking for a place to live and work as well.

Portugal looks interesting. There are some really nice hectare, 2 1/2 acre properties that have been formed by retiring gardeners. The climate looks pretty good. The soil in some places, of course we make our own soil. Plus portugal has the best path to citizenship and Is the third safest country on the planet. Plus other benefits
