Resources for Design Education

Hi Jasmine.  Welcome.

Do you teach a PDC?  If so, do you intend to use this forthcoming book as your primary textbook, or as one of several resources?  I'm curious about using your book as one of the texts for a Sustainable Agriculture course I teach.  Thoughts?

I have taught a few full PDCs between 2016-18, however since leaving our land, following a house fire, I've only been teaching ad hoc. This book is based on the 1000 people or so who came through my courses, workshops etc over the past 10 years, what I learnt from them and what I learnt worked best. I was very keen that the book would work for teachers and hoped it could be useful to other trainers. It would be a great asset to a Sustainable Agriculture course, especially if you have a permaculture module, even if you don't it could stand alone. My hope is that it's affordable enough for folks to budget into course costs if they wish to use it as a resource. Some aspects of the book focus on the self, or request a creative exercise, which may not be your normal cup of tea on an agriculture course. However, times they are changing, and why not introduce subjective impressions to support objective data such as soil, species, wind and so on, as we're part of the ecosystem too.

A large part of the book is more traditional and is clear cut suitable for an agriculture course; I'll post an image below to illustrate.



As I understand it, Permanent Publications and I imagine Chelsea Green too, can give good discounts to teachers wishing to buy a bunch in one go.
