Hello,

Looking for a little advice...

I was given a 150ish lbs of canola seed as chicken feed.
My laying hens already get a combo of 17% layer ration, rolled wheat and whatever they can dig up around the 10 acres yardsite/pasture.

Can I add in a scoop or two of the canola seed to their day mixture without issue?
Should I sprout it?
Should I just feed it to my meat chickens instead?

I've never had canola seed as feed before, so I'm not sure how to use it, or if I should use it.

Any info would be appreciated!

I'm by no means a chicken expert but I'm I'm frugal and would give at least your meat chickens some of it maybe a 10% supplement to whatever else you feed them. it will be added protein I believe

They will definitely eat it and it's a good addition to your feed. Canola meal is commonly added to chicken feed after it has been pressed for oil. Whole seed is even better.. in moderation of course.

Stinging nettles are edible. But I really want to see you try to eat this tiny ad:
