somewhere I remember seeing a national map showing areas where there are limited building code showing where creative building structures could be constructed without zoning or code problems but turned out not to be so accurate. codes and regulations can be different in every county and to be sure when hunting for property it would be best to check with
city or county. it seems there are fewer and fewer places that do not have building and zoning codes and laws. I know a little bit about this because when I made decision to move out of Florida where I had all kids of friction with building and zoning I made decision to move somewhere where nobody can tell you what you can or cannot build or what you cannot have or do on your own property. The county where I am in Tennessee had a standing room only county commission meeting last year about enacting building and zoning codes and there was such public concern the majority of elected officials voted to not enact any building or zoning codes, rules or laws. the only thing you have to have to build or live on property you own is a septic system., they don't want anyone to have to rely on outhouses anymore I guess.
