Okie from Muskogee as sung by Merle Haggard is a great song! He never lived there but his parents, Jim and Flossie moved from there in 1935.

Carrie Underwood was born there and so was my sister.

I spent a lot of summers there visiting my grandparents.

Reba McIntire is from Oklahoma.

Bob Wills lived in Tulsa though he was from Texas.

Just a few Oklahoma facts from this Texan.

Cloverleaf Antiques in Ardmore, OK

Besides the Red River, Texas and Oklahoma share Route 66 with some other states!

A few things I can say about Texas is we love our country music!

Some country music artists from Texas: Willie Nelson, Freddie Fender, Charlie Pride, Waylon Jennings, and George Strait. There are a lot more!

What I like about Texas are the wildflowers.  I know other states have wildflowers, I just have not seen them like the ones I see in Texas.  Whole fields of nothing but Blue Bonnets, Indian Paintbrush, or Firewheels.

OKC girl here! Another great aspect of Oklahoma is that it has more ecological regions per square mile than any other state. It truly is an “edge” area where East meets West and North meets South.

Lived in San Antonio for a while too - loved that region, though the mountain cedar allergies hit me like a ton of bricks between Christmas and Valentine’s Day each year!

I’ll be coming up on one year in the SE of the UK soon - this is definitely a place that can compete for wildflowers! They’re amazing mid-summer. My older kiddo has fallen in love with poppies, and they’re everywhere around then!

Fun fact: Oklahoma is the only US state to engage in an armed military conflict with the State of Texas at a point when Texas was not engaged in treasonous separation from the USA. We won.

Some highlights?

Governor "Alfalfa Bill" Murray appearing at the bridge personally, armed with a revolver.

Adolf Hitler hearing about it and taking it as evidence of a weakening United States.

Texas and Oklahoma crews working in the dead of night to tear down and rebuild barricades.
