Hi everyone.  I am a newbie mushroom grower.  I have successfully inoculated blue oyster liquid culture into glass jars of wild bird seed.  The jars are now fully colonized.  Will the jars fruit if I put them into fruiting condition without transferring to bulk substrate?
Actually, I have been able to successfully fruit two jars.  These jars were filled with bulk substrate of sawdust inoculated with the grain spawn mentioned above. I still have two 1 liter jars of unused wild bird seed, fully colonized.
Again, my question is will they fruit without being transferred to bulk substrate?
Please, anyone.

In my experience, Blue Oysters are extremely aggressive fruiters, in other words, as soon as they run out of substrate and receive a trigger, such as water and a rise in humidity, they will fruit as soon as they can. My guess is that you could refrigerate the wild bird seed jars and withhold extra water until you're ready to transfer the spawn to the main substrate. I've seen oysters trying to fruit inside of space bags of spawn before transfers could be done. I've even seen photos of oysters fruiting from petri dishes! Good luck and please keep us updated.

They might fruit depending on the strain (some strains fruit some others not)
