Howdy everyone! New member here in Lubbock, Texas, where I live on an urban lot of about 1/8 acre. I have always been a plant nerd with an interest in sustainability. Recently, I adopted four hens from a friend who is moving, and I guess the permaculture bug hit. I'm mainly here to make connections and learn, and I look forward to the whole process.

Welcome, Jared!

My husband's family is from Plainview. His grandma is buried north, in Quitaque. His cousin went to the university in Canyon, and Hubbie went to South Plains College. Small world!!

Thanks Stacie!  I actually grew up on a cotton farm outside a small town southwest of Plainview! Caprock Canyon's State Park at Quitaque is my favorite weekend get-away in the fall-spring months. And I see you are in GA. My brother lives in the Atlanta metro area now. Seems like it is a very small world, indeed! Thanks for the welcome.

Hi Jared;   Welcome to Permies!
Lots of high plains folks around here to chat with.
Unfortunately I'm not one of them... I'm out of the northern mountains where it gets cold and gardens are short lived!
If you want to learn all about how to build a Rocket Mass Heater or just a rocket stove to cook on then I'm your guy!
If you want to know about gardening... well lots of other folks here can help you out.

We have forums on just about anything you want to know about.
Come back often and stay awhile!
We will leave the light on for you

Just an hour southwest of you in Gaines County.  Been working slowly on my 30 acres I obtained here though a really rocky land to play with compared to the 5 acres I did have up there in Lubbock before joining the Army.  Now with my Jailer job sometimes it seems I have no time to work on the place here. Almost considering having some people come camp hand help improve the place with buildings and water ways.  Even though the climate here you never know if rain is going to hit you here.
