I just really don't like your naming policy. I have been using my alias for years, and now I am stuck with a name I am likely to forget. I have always used an alias to protect my children and family from wackos. My normal alias is Little Bit Farm. If you spend some time googling. these are some of the things you will find under my name: 1) The first is an old Lucinet message board from years ago http://www.greenspun.com/bboard/q-and-a.tcl?topic=ACountryPlace . 2) http://littlebitfarmshomestead.blogspot.com/ 3. http://littlebitfarm.wordpress.com/ I guess my point is that I have been around for awhile, and in fact there are a number of people who simply call me Little Bit that I have met in person over the years. So I've spoke my piece. Oh and I sign everything, wait for it...

Welcome to the forums!

Actually, you don't really have to remember the display name at all. You don't use it to login - that's a different id which can be anything as per your choice.

Fair enough. The naming policy says this:

All permies.com users are asked to use a real sounding name as their display name. Obviously fictitious names may be locked out. By "real sounding name", we mean either your own actual, personal name, or a name that at least looks like it could belong to a real person.

So are you concerned that others may not recognize you in these forums, if you don't use that alias? In that case, you can setup a signature in your profile which has that alias and it will automatically get added at the end of every post you make in the forums.

Or for "Location", you could put "Little Bit Farm".

No, you misunderstand. I just want to have the freedom to be myself. After all these years I AM Little Bit Farm, which may sound ridiculous to you, but its part of my identity. I am as much Little Bit Farm as I am my real first and last name. I just think it is highly invasive to tell me what I must call myself. Just as invasive as if you told me what to wear! I object. Anyway, I am done complaining about it. In my experience it rarely has any effect, unless masses of people agree, and it is certainly not why I came to this site.

Here is what it is like for me: You are a smoker in my non-smoking house and you are stating that you should be allowed to smoke in my house, because you have smoked in other houses.

If you wish to go to those other houses to smoke, I understand.

If you choose to not come to my house anymore, I understand.

So many bad habits in so many fori before... (well, not so bad, for personal security sure)

I D ASK THE SAME AS PAUL

Well, almost, not all people are nice, so the real first and last name are for the administrator, and show only the first name on the public profile.
Then the last name 1st letter and the name of your state!
Kelly N. Idaho...
Pat K. Florida...

If I want to remember the name of the people, and ALSO an alias! Double job for the memory...

PS: Xisca is real in Spanish, it is a diminutive, I tell it for the non spanish speakers... and this is my alias on other forum as well like infojardin. But I am usually Xisca Palma, so I can tell where I am from.

I want my playground back. Here, I'll give you this tiny ad for it:
