What type of Cob mix (or other) can we use to cover up the cement blocks at the base of our Ovens? We have two outdoor wood fired ovens and both sit on cement block bases. The Ovens are really pretty but the cement block bases look bad. What can we use to smear over the outside of the blocks to make it look nicer and also tie the looks of the area together?

This photo shows the Cob oven and it's base. The other oven can be seen at the whole link of photos. Thanks if anyone has ideas for how to cover up the block.

It doesn't look like you have a roof. I would use a lime, sand, earth, cow manure & flour paste for the final plaster over the bricks and continue up the oven for it to all blen. the flour paste is very sticky, put it on thin as it has a tendency to slump if it's to heavy. Carol Crews has an excellant book called Clay Culture with different recipes. I live in Oregon so it's also necessary for a roof, or you'll have to cover it when it rains.

Yes, we have a roof. It is a tin roof over the whole outdoor kitchen. We have two wood Ovens and one wood cook top (an old wood stove) and a wood stove used for holding ashes. See below. We want to cover the cement blocks with something that will blend the base of the two ovens and make them similar to tie the areas in.
