Hi all,
as closer our farm gets (October/November my husband and I start) as more exiting we get.
We will have to plant first about 250 fruit and edibles
trees from all around the world, because they overgrow our house and backyard where we live now and need urgently out of their pots into proper ground.
(Mistake Nr 1, yes we haven't much nitrogen fixer and that's how a food forest starts usually)
We will add some Leucaenas between them but I am sure, not
enough.
A good food forest starts with 80% nitrogen fixers..(
Geoff Lawton)
Here comes the Pinto Peanut (Arachis pintoi) in the game.
Its is a leguminous ground cover and great forage, as more it get grazed as better it grows.
That's a whole carpet of nitrogen fixer so we get the balance...
Now we also want fowls (
Chicken, Guinea Fowls and Geese)
Geese are grazer and prefer soft fresh grown grass before all others.
But considering the nutritious value of Pinto peanuts I reckon it would the a good goose fodder as well.
Unfortunately there is nothing in the web written about geese grazing on Pinto peanuts.
Is here somebody in the forum who has seen his geese gobbling on Pinto greens and they loved it?
Cheers,
See
