I have three clearanced wildflower/pollinator seed mixes and they all say, "Plant in Spring." But the flowers plant themselves in the autumn, right? And the seeds "know" to wait until the Spring, right? So should I broadcast the seeds in these plastic bags now?

--Or, would it be wise to leave them outside so the seeds can feel the winter temps, and then plant them when the package recommends?

(Or do I just keep them inside until Spring and follow all standard directions?)

I know Blue bonnets (Lupine) must be sown in fall and winter in the field or they will not flower.  I don't know what you have and not an expert; but agree with your suspicion.  No one winters the seeds in doors in nature.  Not how they evolved.

I had the same quandary, so I spread some flower seeds at the end of the summer, and I am going to do more in the spring, just to be sure. I put them in the freezer for storage. I figured more was better.

Some wildflower seeds will come up in the spring like Blanket Flower aka Firewheel. This is the only wildflower that I have experience with planting in the spring.

I would recommend looking at each seed in those mixes to see when each is recommended to plant.

No matter when you plant some will come up next spring and some might come up the spring after that.

It might even be years from now when some come up because they need stratifcation.
