Hello, howdy, how do you do?
My name is Tim and I live in good ole New England farm country. Okay, I actually live in a village on a third of an acre in a place that I call home. I am thirty and my partner and I make a family with our Plott Hound. We are finishing preparations to raise fowl, it is my hope to have about a dozen brahmas as a sort of pet/egg dispenser/compost creator to hep me with closing systems along with my
gardening improvements on the property.
I have six 4x12x12" annual vegetable raised beds with an additional 4x10x12"
perennial asparagus bed separated from each other with a mycelium infused woodchip/leaf mold/cardboard footbaths. Unfortunately, the mycelium seems to be a mixture of intentional and unintentional
mushrooms but we will see where that goes.
I am currently finishing working on what I like to think of is '
Chicken Alcatraz'; a enclosed coop and run that is secure from the various predators that I have near my property. It is a curse and a blessing to be butted up to wilderness so I have seen foxes, birds of prey, feral and domestic cats, and other things. I'm still butting up the door frames going into the run and then finishing up reinforcing the security of the coop. I have the itch for chicks but I want everything squared away before I receive them.
I work in a small 'working museum' of a paper mill as my full time career and live with my wife who is a new attorney learning about trusts and estates. We are very fortunate to own our home and to be at least comfortable financially to support ourselves so far but we also realize that the only things you can rely fall back on are the things you physically have or can do. That is where my incorporation of
permaculture principles an ideas started to come into my work around the house. Less labor, less waste, quality returns, and a sense of pride that comes with being able to guide nature to what you desire? I don't know, its all very fun and I'm still learning.
Anyway, you will see me in the forums. I hope to see you there!
